Abby is a little timid but definitely a sweet snuggly gal who likes to give kisses.
She seems to be housebroken and does well walking on a leash. She even knows how to smile - check out picture #3.
Please read her foster home feedback for more info.
January 19th -I am so proud of how far Abby has come since she came to stay with us. When she first lived here, she would hardly move from the couch. Now she greets us at the door when we come home, smiling all the way! She roams freely around the house, wagging her tail. She is eating better, and enjoying rawhides. It took a while for her to be comfortable eating, but she does great now. She loves treats, and knows how to sit and shake (and smile of course). She had one episode of "excited peeing" but that was only one time, and just a few days after she came here. I took her to a nursing home to visit some of the residents to get her out and experience a little more. She was the best! She sat down and waited to be pet by the residents, and was not fearful of the electric wheelchairs! She even crawled into bed with one of the ladies who lives at the nursing home, which I think was the highlight of her day (both Abby's and the resident's!). She has a very sweet, loving temperament. We also took her out to PetSmart to get her socialized a little bit, and she found her favorite aisle: The one with the doggie beds! She crawled up on the bottom shelf and layed down on one of the beds, ha! I would say that Abby would do best as the only dog. She takes a long time to get used to them, and she has growled at my dogs when they get in her business but she has never showed any real aggression. I took her to my mom and dad's, they have 2 dogs and she preferred to stay in the back room and avoid contact with them. Abby told me that she will miss us when she goes to her forever home, but will happily smile her way into their hearts, too!
December 30th - When we picked Abby(previously named Amy) up from the pound yesterday, she was very very scared. She kept her tail between her legs for quite a while, and wouldn't move from one spot. She tried to hide behind the door and dug her nose into our arms. She gives kisses, and is very snuggly. She tolerates our two other small dogs, but doesn't seem to really like them but I have a feeling once she warms up a little bit she will do much better. She appears to be housebroken and hasn't had accidents. Today she is coming out of her shell a little bit, wagging her tail and coming off the chair. We took her for a walk and she did very well on the leash, and didn't seem to mind the snow too much. She actually enjoyed eating the snow! The funniest thing about her is that she "smiles"!! She shows her top and bottom teeth. If you didn't know her it might look scary but she'll give you a kiss right after! I have never seen anything like it!
