September 22 - Georgia is an amazing dog! She is so smart and aims to please. Right now she is working on "Drop" while playing fetch with toys. This is yet another trick to add to her repertoire. She can also sit, lay down, shake, stay, and rollover. She also has a special way about her-She somehow tricks you into shaking HER hand! Then of course, you must give her a treat! She has never had an accident in our home. When she goes outside, she does her business promptly. She also understands the imaginary boundaries of our home; she only goes where she's invited. She would make a perfect pet for just about anyone! She is loyal and can't wait to see you in the morning, after work, or anytime! She enjoys walks after supper, runs up to 8 blocks, and delicious doggie treats! She adores attention, but also doesn't mind independence. She doesn't get into mischief when bored. She hasn't destroyed any of our property by chewing. She doesn't jump on furniture or people. She would be perfect for a single person, a married couple, or a married couple with older children. Georgia truly is a delight and deserves a good forever home. She will love you unconditionally!
December 8th Update: Georgia really has made leaps and bounds with walking. What a lady! If Georgia gets distracted and wants to sniff a tree, I can just call her name and she comes right back. Even walking her in the snow is fine. She seems to really enjoy the outdoors. Her fear of moving cars is improving. I think having the security of walking next to someone she trusts helps her.
Georgia is also a quick learner. She knows to sit at the door with her leash on and waits to be walked. She will also sit for treats and shake too, anything for a treat! But she will take a belly rub with no treat in hand!
This lovely lady was actually rescued from Georgia and brought here to Fargo by some very sweet shelter volunteers who rescued her from inevitable death. She really does deserve a forever home. Just remember she likes to play like the big girl dogs play, so she prefers to be either the only dog or with another big dog, no small dogs, cats, or small furry animals.
June 25 Update: She doesn't really chase anything any more. If she hears my command she will not move. She is just a wonderful girl, protective of me and my home and wants to be next to me all the time. She has a wonderfull temperment (unless she feels threatened), loves to learn new tricks and loves her treats. She's a cuddler if you let her be. She is so sweet and so adorable. Oh, she LOVES to lay in the sun. Could be outside for hours!!!
Previous Update: I've had the pleasure of taking care of Georgia for about 3 weeks and she is an absolute pleasure to have around. When she came to my house there were a lot of new things that she wasn't familiar with. She didn't like the TV, was very curious about the refrigerator and didn't like the sound of the bath water running, but it only took her a few days to get used to those noises, new smells and sounds around her. She's a good girl, still has a few things to learn, but is a quick learner and a good listener. She know how to 'sit' and 'stay' and is becoming an obedient walker. She has lots of energy and loves her walks. She loves kisses and belly rubs, but is not a big fan of small dogs or rabbits. She is house and kennel trained and does well on a long leash in my back yard. She never goes more then a few steps without making sure I'm watching her. I've recently introduced her to kids and she did wonderful. Again, she loves kisses and will shower you with them if given the chance. She still occasionally jumps on you when she's excited, but is also learning that's a no-no. She has her special blanket that she sleeps with and has certain chew toys that she favors more then others, but will play with anything you let her as long as you're playing with her. She is a sweet, sweet girl!!
