Jake had been living in a garage with a rope embedded in his neck until recently when some volunteers took him to a vet to get it removed.

Jake wants to say a BIG THANK YOU to Joan and her family, who were so wonderful and loving to rescue him from the situation he was in, take him to the vet, and give him the chance to live the life he deserves to live. He also barks a huge THANK YOU to the fantastic vet who so generously gave of their time to remove what appeared to be a clothesline cord that had grown into his neck. WOOF, WOOF!!! And, Jake especially wants to thank his foster home for giving him a chance at finding a new loving home!!!

Please read his foster home feedback for more info.

October 5th - Jake is a very sweet dog, and loves to give sweet, gentle kisses. He is quite timid, but is really warming up and is starting to show his playful side. He doesn't appear to have been in a house much, if at all, before. He is starting to "get it", but for most of his first day he has really resisted going through doors--he seems to be rather afraid of entering the indoors. He may not be housebroken in the truest sense, but as he was an outdoor dog, the only thing he knows is going potty outside, so that has not been an issue at all. He also shows NO food aggression at all, and I can reach in and take anything out of his mouth without him putting up any kind of a fuss. When the vet and I have worked with his neck wounds, cleaning it, etc., he sits very quietly and patiently, and while he certainly doesn't enjoy it, he seems to just know that we are only doing it to help him.

He gets along great with my dogs (although my boxer is still not totally warmed up to him, but he will be in a day or two), and seems to not mind my kitties at all. Lucky, our VERY elderly kitty, went right up to him and rubbed him, so I take that as a solid stamp of approval! He's kind of finicky in his old age.

He is super friendly and loving, with no shortage of kisses to give! He absolutely LOVES my sons (13 and 15), and seemed so excited and curious with my friend's 2-year-old.

He seems to be a really smart, quick-learning dog, and would make a great dog for someone who likes to spend lots of time playing with him. He is just beginning to discover what toys are, and he seems to be finding that he really LIKES them!
