Fostering a dog can ABSOLUTELY save a life! 4 Luv of Dog has no shelter and is reliant upon a fostering network to provide temporary homes for our animals. Our dogs are kept in foster homes until they are placed in permanent happy homes of their own. Currently, we have very limited foster resources, and as a result we often have to turn animals in need away because there is no one to foster them.
Foster homes provide the love and shelter while 4 Luv of Dog pays for the food, and all medical expenses. A foster home is invaluable, because the foster parent gains insight to the dog's personality to help us better match them with the perfect home.
The average time an animal is usually fostered is several weeks; however, it could be as little as a few days or as much as a few months. Although we prefer the animal remain in one foster home until it finds a permanent home, we realize this is not always possible. Foster parents have the right to discontinue fostering at any time for any reason. So whether you can foster for a couple of days, weeks or months your services can be useful!
If you would like to become a foster home for us, please fill out a foster application If you have questions about being a foster home, email our foster coordinator.
Help us advertise our dogs needing homes! Please print out our monthly flyer
and post on local community bulletin boards (at work, grocery stores, gas
stations, etc). Click on the image on the left to print the flyer. It is
an Adobe Acrobat file and you should be able to view/ print using a free
Adobe Acrobat viewer.
As you may not be aware, there is a need for assistance in the transporting of rescued animals through the Fargo/Moorhead area. Usually, transport assistance is needed to assist dogs from a shelter or rescue group to another shelter, rescue group, approved foster or approved forever home. There are a small number of individuals in the Fargo/Moorhead area that are assisting with transports. But, unfortunately the need is greater than these individual's schedules can accommodate for. Thus, we are looking for more volunteers.
Transports are usually broken into 60-120 mile 'legs'. Most transports through the Fargo/Moorhead area are Fargo/Moorhead from/to Alexandria, Grand Forks, Jamestown, or Watertown. Sometimes, only 1 animal needs transportation. Other times, a group (number depends on sizes) needs transportation.
Sometimes the animal travels with a crate. If no crate is traveling with the animal, crates can usually be borrowed for transport usage.
The need for transport assistance is often advertised on the following Yahoo groups: I-94_Rescue_and_Transport , I29-Transport , NorthDakotaAnimalRescue and Minnesota Animal Rescue. If transporting an animal in need is something you would like to assist with, we strongly encourage you to sign up and monitor these yahoo groups and contact whoever the coordinator is. Please email Kish if you have further questions.
