Rascal's owner will shoot him if a new home is not found ASAP!
Rascal is a 2 year old, friendly, nice, handsome, male pitbull. His owner already killed one of their other dogs (a female black lab, RIP) a few days ago by shooting her 3 times in the face. We don't want the same fate to happen to poor Rascal!!! We desperately need a foster home willing to care for this dog. He deserves a chance to have a better life. Please save a life and offer Rascal a foster home!

In need of rescue Wednesday, July 1st - Lhasa Apso mix and Terrier mix. Update: The Lhasa was reclaimed by it's owner and the terrier mix was taken in by another local rescue.
In need of rescue Thursday, July 2nd - Two Dachshunds, Shepherd mix, and a Pitbull mix. The pitbull mix is a 1 year old female who is very much a wiggle butt, super nice, and happy about everything. Update: One of the Dachshunds has been reclaimed, the other is expected to be taken in by a breed rescue. The pitbull mix will be taken in by another local rescue if not reclaimed.
In need of rescue Monday, July 6th - Young Shih tzu mix who is very nice and not nippy at all.
In order to help any of these dogs, we need foster or forever homes to care for them. If you would like to save a life, please apply to foster or adopt one of these dogs!

Georgia has been in our rescue for one and
a half years. She has spent much of that time in boarding, but still her spirit
is strong. We are not sure why she has not gotten much adoption interest.
She is very smart and loving. She knows "sit", "down", "roll over" and we
are working on "shake". We know Georgia is good with children, she loves to
snuggle and go for car rides. She always has a smile for you and is a really
pretty dog. We are very unsure of her breed mix, she seems like an all American
mutt. Georgia does best with mellow dogs that are her size or bigger. No small
dogs or cats for Miss Georgia.
Please consider fostering or adopting this wonderful dog. Georgia has been
waiting a long time for a loving home.

Volunteer for our Homemade Gourmet Fundraiser!
Independent Distributor for Homemade Gourmet®, Kari Hanson, has coordinated a fundraiser for 4 Luv of Dog Rescue. We are looking for volunteers to sell Homemade Gourmet® products on behalf of the rescue. 20% of all sales will be donated to 4 Luv of Dog Rescue. All participants will receive a 4 Luv of Dog t-shirt and there will also be prizes (gift cards, ipod touch, dvd player) for those individuals reaching sale goals through August 10th. If you would like to participate in this fundraiser, you can pick up a sales kit at Natural Pet Center, 3037 13th Avenue S, Fargo or contact Kari (see below for contact info).
If you're not a salesperson, but are interested in some Homemade Gourmet®
products, shop the Homemade
Gourmet® website. Please email Kari your order to ensure the 20% in
proceeds will be given to the rescue, save you on shipping charges, and
have the orders delivered by one of our volunteers. Orders placed online
through August 10th will benefit the rescue also, however, shipping charges
would be much higher if they are shipped directly to you.
If you have questions about the fundraiser or Homemade Gourmet® products, please call Kari at 281-6495 (nights & weekends) or email her at ezmealsolutions@gmail.com.
Some of our supporters asked for a way to easily provide us with regular recurring monthly donations without them having to remember to do anything each month. We are now happy to report that we have partnered with PayPal to allow supporters to provide us with monthly recurring donations.
Our rescue receives no government funding so we rely on adoption donation fees, fundraisers, and your generous donations to help us cover our expenses. If you support what our organization is doing to help area homeless dogs in need, please show us your support by signing up to make monthly donations.
The 4 Luv of Dog Rescue has started a fundraiser to try to raise money to help pay for boarding kennel expenses. Dogs that unfortunately do not have foster homes stay at a local boarding facility at an expense of $15 per day per dog. With 7 dogs currently in boarding, these expenses quickly add up.
We are trying to raise $2000 to assist us in paying for our boarding kennel expenses. Please consider donating $15 or more by using the PayPal widget (left) - just select your donation amount and click the yellow Give button.
Adopters of past 4 Luv of Rescue dogs, may not realize, but their dog too may have temporarily stayed at the boarding kennel for a few days. And, for those of you unable to foster but still wanting to help, your donation is the perfect opportunity to do so!
June 29 Update - We are pleasesd to report
that Harper is doing well! She will be going to her foster home later today.
Her incision is healing nicely, her breathing is relatively normal,
and her heartrate is good. Her right lung (it was partially collapsed) is
still not back to normal but the vet was optimistic that it would slowly
re-inflate to capacity. There is no signs of any fluid gathering in her
lungs so that is a very good sign. The vet mentioned that Harper is a "star patient",
and when she opened up Harper's kennel this weekend, tbat Harper would crawl out and
want to sit on the vet's lap and give her a kiss!

June 25, 2:30pm Update - Harper survived the night and is doing well.
Harper may be spending the weekend at the vet rather than going home as it will be a more quiet
environment which will help to keep her quiet and calm.
June 24, 8:30pm Update - So far Harper is doing well. She
is fully awake, has taken a short walk, eaten a bit, and done her "business". If
she continues this progress she will get to go back to her foster home tomorrow.
June
24, 1:30pm Update on Harper's Surgery - Thankfully Harper
has survived the surgery but she is still not out of the woods yet. When
the vet opened her up she found a fist sized hole in Harper's diaphragm.
This hole allowed her liver, pancreas, and small intestine to be pushed
up into her chest cavity. This was much worse than the vet had hoped to
see. The vet was surprised that poor Harper has survived this long! Harper
will now be monitored for at least the next 24 hours. We are all very hopeful
that she will pull through this and have a long, healthy and happy life
with a new loving family.

After 2 visits to the Vet it has been determined that sweet Harper
has substantial internal injuries due to the car accident over one month
ago and lack of veterinary care after the accident. She was also routinely
beaten by the family that had her and this possibly compounded her injuries.
She has been in our rescue a little over a week and is finally knowing some
human affection and the comfort of a loving foster home.
Harper's internal injuries are so serious that her only chance of survival is surgery to repair a hole in her diaphragm. She also has a partially collapsed lung and is blind in her right eye. The surgery is scheduled for Thursday, June 25th, and we are asking for donations to help us with the estimated cost of $1,000. Sadly, there is a chance Harper will not survive the surgery but the rescue feels this sweet, young dog deserves a chance to live and fully know how it feels to be a beloved family member.
We are asking all our wonderful supporters to please make a donation towards Harper's surgery expenses. You may use the below button to make a PayPal donation or see our donate page for other options.
Josie really digs the treadmill! She will sit and beg to have a little run and plop herself down on the track until you allow her some action.
This is a great way to give your dog some exercise, as long as it is done
in a safe manner. For more info on teaching your dog to use a treadmill,
check out this article on Training Your
Dog on the Treadmill by Shelly Seigler.
Stray
dogs are a problem on many regional indian reservations including North
Dakota's Turtle Mountain reservation. Due to limited funding and resources,
local animal control officers sometimes resort to shooting the dogs, rather
than humanely euthanizing them, and then dumping their body in the local
landfill. Occasionally, they have "round-ups" where on a given
day they round-up as many strays as possible and "dispose" of
them.
Our rescue has been made aware of an impending "round-up" to occur on another nearby reservation. Fortunately, the tribal police are willing to work with dog rescue groups rather than shoot the dogs. Our rescue has taken in several very nice stray dogs from this reservation before (Karma, Rusty, Gizmo, Ruby, Riley, Kita) and would like to help the current stray dogs. Unfortunately, we currently have several dogs in boarding and our foster homes are full. We desperately need more foster homes and/or monetary donations for boarding in order for us to be able to help these dogs.
If you would like to help, please consider becoming a foster home or making a monetary donation towards boarding expenses..

Our rescue will be listing this LA-Z-Boy lift chair on Craigslist for $200.00, but we want to give you a chance to see it first! This lift chair reclines and raises to help “lift” you out of the chair. This chair is perfect for that favorite fisherman, covered in a rich fabric featuring the fisherman reeling in “the big one”, and also sporting images of canoing and the one that probably got away.
100% of the sale of this chair goes directly to our rescue. For information, email fundraising@4luvofdog.com or call 701-293-9537.
